No car? No dramas. You’ve got us!

I know there’s almost an inevitability about hiring a rental car when holidaying in Western Europe and there’s no denying the freedom having a car provides, with the ability to ‘nip down to the shops’ or embark on a road trip. But if you haven’t got a car? In Cape Town, it’s really not an issue.

Cape Town appears to be larger than it actually is and that’s what most people mistake before landing in The Mother City. But in reality, aside from a few massive mountains, navigating to and from the hot spots really doesn’t take as long as you’d think.

You have a multitude of beaches within 10 minutes of each other, as well as a variety of bars, restaurants and sights also in the Atlantic Seaboard catchment area.

What about trips venturing further afield? We hear you and that’s where we come into play.

There is SO much to see and do in Cape Town, that trying to do it alone without at least a hint of expert guidance is going to leave your bucket list looking pretty full come home time. So we recommend a tour or two anyway, or at least some holiday planning but aside from making things easier for you, you genuinely see so much more and at the right times.

Navigating Cape Town traffic isn’t for the fainthearted, particularly at rush hour! The local taxis rule the road in South Africa and if they decide they want to move in to your lane, they will be moving in to your lane. Add load shedding in to the mix and intermittent traffic lights and you have quite a chaotic road experience for someone who’s not used to the South African roads.

This is the benefit of having a guide and being taken around- you avoid said issues and the local knowledge of our wonderful guides prevails in such situations. So you can relax in the knowledge that you’re avoiding all of the aforementioned drama, whilst taking in the wondrous scenery.

But what about short journeys? It may just be a trip to the beach and you’re carrying too many things- that’s understandable. Thankfully, Uber in South Africa is fantastic value for money, regardless of which tiered car you opt for, it’s a sure fire way to move from A to B without breaking the bank.

So, Cape Town without a car. Will it make your holiday easier? Possibly. Is it worth the additional effort for parking and navigating Cape Town traffic? Doubtful. Do you need a car in Cape Town? Not really. Will you see and do more with a guide and private transport? Absolutely!
